Mountain View

This City’s population of 73,000 includes a disproportionate number of Silicon Valley’s younger residents. This is due chiefly to the high ratio of apartments to private homes, but also to its very convenient commute location, and an excellent downtown with lots of Restaurants, shopping and general entertainment facilities geared toward the population of young professionals with good disposable incomes.

Mountain View is home to numerous Hi Tech companies including Google who have installed free wireless internet throughout the city.

Commuting is enhanced by highways 101, 85, and 237 which provide access north as far as San Francisco and to all parts of San Jose. The regular commuter trains service many of these same routes, and the new light rail has links to many of the major employers. However, this does come with a price with regard to noise level. 2 railways, and numerous highways and major roads mean that many neighborhoods are affected by both traffic and noise.

Schools are good and well supported by a good partnership between the city and the parents.
