Santa Clara City

This is the City which shares the name of the County. The Mission City of Santa Clara with a population of 114,000 is the third largest in the county.

When the original mission was founded in 1777 this was just a normal farming village as were most places throughout the County.

Public schools are in the top 25% state wide with a few actually in the top 10%. In addition there are about 15 private schools. The highly rated Santa Clara University http://www.scu.edu/. A Jesuit institution is on the site of Mission Santa Clara De Asis. There is also Mission College, a campus of the West Valley Community College. http://www.westvalley.edu/.

Most of the city grew up in the post WW2 boom years and has a pretty normal mix of housing from that period. Rivermark, a recent major development on the north east of the city is a new planned community of 3,000 homes, apartments, and condo’s, a shopping center, a library, a hotel, a school, a park, and a police station. It has been designed to be pedestrian friendly and sold out very quickly. It also benefits from an excellent commute location to all major employment centers and is just a few miles from San Jose airport.

Santa Clara has always been business friendly and is host to such high tech icons as INTEL, YAHOO, CISCO, and many more. This pays off for the inhabitants in the form of a well maintained community with multiple parks and recreation facilities.

Occasionally weather conditions will require air traffic be routed over some residential neighborhoods. This should be checked by anyone planning to live here.
